DAY 19

Now, I should explain, I did not apply the whole floor in this method of trowling the floor and then placing the tile. I'm too messy working like that, or so I found out. So I stuck to my tried and trued method of "back-buttering," where I simply trowel on the thinset directly to the back of the tile, then place it on the floor. It's much cleaner, and easier, imo... but I'm also not pro at this.

"Oh shit! There is a spot on the tile!" Something similar likely went through my head at that time. Gotta keep the thinset off the tile faces people... wipe it up before it has a chance to dry! Because, when you grout you are going to make such a huge mess of things that you won't even remember why you bothered wiping the thinset off anyways.

The process of my tried and trued method (not really MY method, somebody else created it... just my CHOSEN method). Apparantly I am pretty happy with the results... judging by the look on my face in that last pic. Oh wait, no... that's just because I was all mental due to not stopping for lunch, and also from all the up and down of grabbing a tile, buttering it, squatting to place it, fine-tuning it, then standing up and starting all over again. I did that 80 times today, and have to that about 42 times tomorrow I think.

Cool shots courtest of Troy (as are most all the pics). Here, you see me first placing the tile, then doing a pushup of sorts on it to make sure all the thinset makes good contact with the concrete. The last pic, well again, lack of food, and need of rest make me look a lil crazy.

Wow, the cooler looks crooked in this pic... yet I look over at it right now and it looks perfectly straight. Must be a weird angle here, I know it's not as crooked as it looks to me here. Notice how curled up my beard is? That because it's scared of the buttering process... it told me it fears a horrible death in "cement shoes" and this is too close that scenario for comfort apparantly. Yes, I'm completely serious... my beard TALKS to me, ok? Big whoop, wanna fight about it?!
